How To Get A Flat Stomach

How To Get A Flat Stomach

Everybody has a basic idea on how to get a flat stomach. They know that the desired results come about by a combination of proper diet and exercise. What most people lack, however, is either a game plan, or motivation. Proper diet goes beyond the tried and true fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. People need to know which of these are the best for their purposes, and the same goes for exercise.

Get Rid of Belly Fat

It is amazing that with the amount of information available these days, that people often think that they need to do sit-ups and crunches to get rid of belly fat. Sit-ups really have no place in a workout anymore, and crunches are what build stomach muscle and give people a six-pack. However, that six pack is not going to fight its way through a mass of belly fat in order to be seen. The six pack physique can only be revealed after the fat is shed from around the midsection.

The key, then, is to burn off belly fat with a cardio routine and a diet rich in foods that burn belly fat. On average, a person needs to burn off 3,500 more calories than they consume in order to lose one pound of fat. Medical experts estimate that 60 to 90 minutes of moderate cardio five-times a week will accomplish this. Moderate cardio is basically anything that makes you breathe hard and break a sweat. A jump rope is one of the best tools for shedding calories, and swimming is the other. Long hikes are a terrific way to burn off fat without becoming bored. By incorporating crunches into these routines, a person can have their six pack waiting for them by the time they have shed their body fat.

Food is needed to fuel workouts, but people often think that they are taking one step forward and one step back when they consume calories before working out. Fortunately, there are some foods that will fill a person up and give them energy, but add precious few calories in the bargain. Some of these foods that burn belly fat, or assist in it, include:

Grapefruit-78 calories
Apple-95 calories
Strawberries-2.5 calories
Zucchini-52 calories
Celery-1 calorie
Banana-107 calories

Exercises To Lose Belly Fat

There are three great routines for shedding boatloads of calories and burning off belly fat. These are in addition to the various crunch routines most people already know.

Burpees: The person should stand with their hands on their hips, feet apart. They should then squat down until they are touching their palms to the ground. After that, they kick their feet out behind them, so that they are in the pushup position. They should then explode back into a standing position. If a person really wants to turn this into a grinder, they can execute a pushup while in that position.

Climbers: The person should assume the pushup position, and then bring one knee up to their chest. They should then return the leg to the starting position while bringing up the other knee to their chest.

Weight Circuit: This is done with moderate to light dumbbells and includes multiple exercises. The person performing this can use any variety of exercises they choose. The key is to do one complete circuit without stopping. After it is completed, it is time to repeat the circuit. For example: a person may decide to combine curls, presses, and squats. They would begin in the standing position and do three curls, and on the third upright position they would continue on, doing three military presses, lower the weights to their side and perform three squats. They would then return to the standing position, pause for a beat, and then repeat.

Exercises for burning belly fat vary in intensity, but these three, when combined with rope skipping, hiking, and swimming, are three of the best. People who perform these exercises, along with crunches, and maintain a diet high in the low-calorie fuel foods, will find themselves in possession of the six pack they have long believed only other people could achieve, as well as the weight loss they so desired.

Have a great day!
